Johnson Law – Five Years Strong In Detroit.

Johnson Law – Five Years Strong In Detroit.

VJL_Buhl2 In 2011, successful attorney and counselor, Ven Johnson, knew it was time to open his own firm. With a love for justice and the city of Detroit, he chose the Buhl Building as the launch pad for Johnson Law, PLC. “Being downtown, in the middle of Detroit’s rebirth felt right,” said Johnson. A five-year anniversary shows that his choice was a good one.

The Buhl’s Neo-Gothic style stands out – and so does Ven Johnson. With his characteristic drive and energy, he busily handles important personal injury cases from his office on Griswold Street. His ultimate focus never wavers – fighting against big business for the ‘little guy’. “Being a trial lawyer is like nothing else,” he stated, “I can literally face a jury and tell them a client’s story the way it deserves to be told.”

Before opening his own firm, Ven spent years meticulously honing his skills in all areas of personal injury law. But it was his success in the courtroom that cemented his reputation as the ‘fighter’ you see on billboards. By taking on a number of high-profile cases, he won over $100 million in jury verdicts and achieved more that $300,000,000 in settlements in just a few short years.

Since appearing on the scene, Johnson Law has grown quickly. To keep up, Ven added a number of carefully selected attorneys and staff to the firm. As Ven was serving clients across the state (as well as across the country), he decided to add a Grand Rapids office in 2014. He realized that having a presence on “both coasts” would make him more accessible to clients. A Saginaw-native, Ven also feels at home in West Michigan.

Staying involved in the community, legal and otherwise, is key to Ven. He spent a year serving as president of the Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ) and is the current Chairman of the State Bar of Michigan Negligence Committee. He is also on the Executive Board for the University of Detroit Mercy American Inns of Court Program. His firm has sponsored the Fifth Third River Bank Run in Grand Rapids, two years in a row. He engages young lawyers through speaking engagements and mentors them through internship programs in his office. Ven is also called on to comment on cases in the media on a regular basis.

The most impressive win since Ven opened his doors was achieving the largest jury verdict for a personal injury case in Michigan for 2015, a record $22.6 million. Now, he’s battling for victims of the Flint water crisis.

With a powerful track record and a relentless approach, Ven Johnson can look forward to more wins and more milestones for his firm. In the meantime, he’ll continue to do what he does best – help protect the legal rights of those that need it most, by fighting for them every step of the way.
