As an attorney with Johnson Law, PLC, Ayanna D. Hatchett has had a diverse practice, from probate, family and contracts to personal injury litigation. Despite the good fortune of being raised by one of the nation’s most prominent trial attorneys – Elbert L. Hatchett – she only decided to attend law school after briefly teaching in the Detroit Public Schools and later, for a local automotive supplier company.
Ayanna grew up in Oakland County before later graduating from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. She was admitted to the bar in 2006. Both before and during law school, she had distinct opportunities to clerk for many distinguished jurors including: the late Honorables James S. Thorburn and William Waterman; Honorable Christopher C. Brown; Honorable Fred Mester; Honorable Alice Gilbert and Honorable Michael Warren.
In 2012, Motion magazine’s featured Ayanna’s love – in addition to her family and career – a commitment to community service, in particular, her work with middle school students in Pontiac Public Schools. She is Vice President of the Pontiac Alumni Foundation, Is actively involved in Links, Inc. and is a Board Member for Homes for Black Children. She comes with an eagerness to serve her clients as well as the Detroit community as it makes its way back to the world’s stage.
