Joseph Sukup has been practicing law for over 30 years. In the courtroom, his knowledge, experience and professionalism earn results for injured clients.
A Michigan native, Joe grew up in Livonia. He attended Marshall University, West Virginia, for his first two years of college, then transferred to Florida Atlantic University where he completed his undergraduate work. He attended the Detroit College of Law in Detroit (now known as Michigan State University College of Law) and earned his law degree in 1987.
Joe fights for the rights of injured people. He focuses on personal injury litigation – taking on defendants in court, where his poise is persuasive among judges and jurors. In addition to all types of personal injury, Joe handles medical malpractice cases. He understands the subtleties of Michigan’s complex no-fault law, and has also handled commercial litigation, battling big corporations.
Working with children is one of Joe’s great passions. He has previously helped run a mentoring program for children from Michigan, Indiana, and the Chicago area focusing on developing vital life skills. Through the PrayAmerica program, Joe has also worked with orphan children in Guatemala, visiting multiple times per year. He also works as a volunteer and supporter with the Box Factory, a venue in St. Joseph for local visual and performing art and previously served on the board.
With strong commitments to children, charity and the arts, Joe is more than an attorney, he is a community leader. He’s not afraid to question authority and considers the law a tool that can be used to safeguard the public against institutional bullies.
